Auxiliary Reading
A little reading to remind me of why and how much I love what I do:
Oliver Sacks Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain
This book is a fascinating collection of stories about music in the lives and minds of people suffering from neurological disorders. It's inspiring and thought provoking to read about the way music has influenced the mental and emotional well-being of these individuals.
Janice Galloway Clara
This historical fiction novel tells the story of pianist, composer, wife, and mother Clara Schumann, wife of the composer Robert Schumann. I have yet to read it, but have always found the life of this strong woman to be very intriguing. No doubt there is some artistic liberty taken with some details of the Schumanns' lives; however, I have found that imagining myself in the life of an historical figure can be almost as enlightening as reading straight facts.
